The basic idea of the project was to create building, which one does not compete with existing historical architecture, characteristic for Piotrkowska Street.
The concept is a sum of many factors, connected with city - Lódz, its origins, symbols and history. Thanks to this gathering, toilet could become recognizable and impossible to copy to another city.
As the effect, we got building with simple shape, which shows all city signs.
Facade is made from perforated steel, where visible is subtle pattern, full of metaphors. Firstly, it looks as some piece of material, installed in knitting machine. Secondly, pattern shows steps of making fabric - at the beginning we have only threads, then on empty piece of material we put definite pattern. I decided to use paper boats, as its strictly connected with citys name (Lódz = boat). The next step was to design friendly interior - here we have an old wallpaper, showing some frame of old Piotrkowska Street.
Under the perforated steel layer, there is special glass, which is transparent from inside but outside is visible as mirror. Thanks to this solution we have some natural light coming inside, without uncomfortable feeling of being watched.
