This is one of the projects from my portfolio as a student. Its site is in Bromley by Bow in London. The design was derived mostly from two main facts, the usage of the building and its location. The site is itself isolated by infrastructure and natural boundaries which cause divisions.
The building is a manufacturing silk and saares factory which includes sale and education aspects as well. The idea of the factory was to create a building where silk is processed, then sarees are made from it, and finally they are sold to people. The building also includes areas where people learn this skills.
Through its design and usage of material, mostly steel and aluminium, the industrial character is kept on site, and it creates social and safe movement spaces for people.
