A Renovation of A House.....Kirana - The Light of Life , this is the main conceptual takeoff of my design. We are try to capture the essence of life by tranfoming spaces that trancend what is seen and experienced not only in its physical realm but on an higher plane. My intension is to transform and renovate an old bungalow to an open house respecting the environment by taking into consideration the different socio - cultural layers- religious- historical of the Philippines society and our Asian nighbor countries specifically Indonesia . We used recycled building materials including, and other elements like railroad wood support from an old sugar plantation railway which was in the Spanish era. We also included basic philippine architecture design elements as well as in Bali , Indonesia. This includes main wood frames and doors. But the jest of the whole design is the notion of being environmentally sensitive house making use of the wind / air flows, sunlight and cross ventilation. Its a mixture of different Asian archi-cultural whose blend brings about calmness and serenity to the users.
