“harmony of architecture with natural and urban landscape”

İstanbul Hisarüstü Traffic Control Center, which is planned to be built on the site between Europe abutment of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge that connects the two sides of Istanbul and ITU woods, will be a very prestigious building, not only because of the mission of its program, but also because of its dominant location over the Bosphorus, and of its significant place in the silhouette of the city. This building will serve as a solution center for user problems while all the road network in Turkey can be watched and supervised alive from this center.

Considering the location of the building, it is aimed to propose a modern design in terms of viewing the most impressive Bosphorus landscape with a new understanding of space organization and selection of materials. With the efficient and effective use of the potentials of the site during the design process, it is ensured that the building integrates with the terrain, topography, and the peculiar features of the Bosphorus area.

The most distinctive principle of the design is the integration of the offices and social amenities that are required in the program, with the spectacular Bosphorus view. The dynamic movement emphasized with the composition and proportion of transparent and solid surfaces, enhances the simple and symbolic power of design. The composition formed with the use of natural and contemporary materials enhancing transparency is emphasized with pure geometric forms. Therefore, the design achieves to be both striking and simple within the texture of natural geography while it develops an original identity. In the design of the facades with the control over noise and sunlight, existence of natural landscape and scenery are influential and determining criteria.

The simple composition of the forms is enhanced in the interior with a rational spatial organisation. This organization also helps to form an interior space enriched with spatial relations. In the design of the interior, while rendering a high quality working atmosphere, a flexible design in harmony with the new and advance technology, and with changing working conditions, has been developed.
