Mixed use hybrid building. From luxury apartments to a stunning exhibition.

The Spiral is a building which aims to reunite and reconnect what has been apart for the last 40 years, the last divided capital in the world, Nicosia.

The building is situated right on the green line which acts as a buffer zone between the two sides and is where the country has been divided. The aim is to bring together in peace the two sides. The Spiral building emerges from within the first side, passes through, and eventually disappears in the ground of the other side. The spiral shape of the installation covering the building acts as a symbolism of joining the two sides and shows how an architectural intervention can bring them together and celebrate this union within the building itself. Furthermore the installation adds to the eco efficiency of the building.

The symmetry of its shape supports this idea in a unique way. Containing luxury residential and office spaces as well as leisure spaces for dining and shopping experience this building offers and proposes a new beginning for this city. The concept’s climax is the observatory space on the top of the building which also offers an exhibition area that will show and provide elements of the history and unity of the two sides and the city.
