Silesia, as a boldly changing European region, has gained a completely new skyline in recent years. It is a mine of untapped potential in the context of housing development, where opening to the panorama of the Katowice city may become an unrivaled asset. VIDOK opens up to the new face of Katowice City, transferring its energy to the outskirts and is a starting point for the further development of the city in this area. It was inspired by the correlation between the exposition of the existing urban landscape and the creation of a new important point on the panorama of Katowice. This is the next step in creating the silhouette of the Silesian metropolis while maintaining harmony between the created and original architecture. We pay attention to the fact that the city's character is reflected only in the very center of the city, but also in distant entrances, which can become its showpiece. The first impression is key, the railway gate to Katowice may affect the revitalization of neglected railway areas and gain a new quality by revalorizing the space around it.
The VIEW is the most important thing. Both for residents and passers-by. The use of point buildings frames the view from the ground level and allows residents to admire the panorama of Katowice. Neighboring streets has become the main axis determining the formation of buildings. The rectangular solids gained dynamics, organically adjusting to the axis of the existing perspectives. The base formed in this way was surrounded by spacious terraces constituting a buffer between the interior of the apartment and the city. The spaces between the buildings and roof terraces fully use the recreational potential of the place, enriching the area with new viewpoints.
