Shiraz is mostly known as “city of artificial Gardens” and the term garden and green space plays an important role in designing in Shiraz so that the concept of this alternative is derived from the term garden. On the other hand, the relation of architecture with the problem of the land use and the meaning of the green areas in the cities are important factors that should be considered in designing process. Nowadays, gardens in the center of Shiraz (especially the old ones) demolish to be residential complexes (due to the problem of migration to cities, more houses are demanded) and; this would be continued in future. The problem of keeping and creating green areas is now a critical challenge for people who care about environment. In Shiraz, building gardens out of city borders for recreational life of e families on the weekends, was a tradition and we can see how this city was developed without destroying any garden and on the contrary people were adding green area to the city. Since Shiraz grows gradually these gardens, become the residential places regarding the protection of the “Gardens” as “city garden” and new gardens built to keep this tradition of urban planning. Unfortunately, this procedure shifted to uncontrollable urban developing by developers and this city treasure decreased dramatically in few years.
As it is obvious the changes in Shiraz (and of course any other city) is inevitable therefore, finding an alternative design to answer the need for the city development and building gardens as an identification of Shiraz, is necessity. On the other hand, the architects, at least, in Shiraz, did not work on the new methods of gardening and the building villas to keep the tradition of urban development. While it is completely clear that considering new methods can be useful.
There are different types of the gardening in Shiraz; one is gardening on the rage of the mountains that surrounded city and the problem of producing the stages of gardens in different levels produces a wonderful gardening called “Bagh e Takht” – stage garden-. This method brings back the memories of the Frank frank lloyd wright wright falling water building to produce the ceilings in the space in addition to the concept of “roof garden”.
To illustrate it, dividing a garden into stages in different levels let us find spaces underneath of these stages to solve the problem of Iranian life cycle functions as well as new gardening increasing the green surfaces of the city. This method is ecofriendly and sustainable and a suitable answer to the subject of Shiraz city development. This new gardening assumed to be a remedy for the wakened lots left because of garden demolition, building complexes in the middle of the city.
To sum the suggested alternative villa garden tries to fulfil those concepts came above.
