TSKB (Turkish Industrial Development Bank) Findikli branch on Meclis-i Mebusan street was designed by Metin Hepgüler in line with the modern architecture of its time. The building is significant for its contributions to the city. The office building of the bank is located on a side street, which is not visible from the main street. The aforementioned rearrangement was made in the rear building. The starting point of this project was that there was a significant need of an updated working space for the bank, that was no longer responding to the contemporary needs. Interior wood cladding and room partitioning identified with the building’s character was disabling natural light to enter the building. For this reason where necessary solid wooden walls were replaced with light, translucent glass partitioning systems. Towards the window (elevation) side open plan was decided to be implemented and no walls were used. In order to create a space for socialising a Mezzanine lobby floor and coffee corners at office floors were integrated into the building. The existing cafeteria has been redesigned in line with the new open plan office system. VIP meeting rooms and conference rooms have been designed in circular form in order to strengthen relationships between the bank staff. Meeting rooms usually designed for a single purpose, here takes on an alternative stance. The reason for a circular table was to establish eye contact among the users which is accepted as a design principle. An independent operable monitor mechanism which wouldn’t obstruct the eye contact has been placed in the centre of the table. During a presentation it could be raised, otherwise it remains the same level as the table. TSKB recreational facility designed by Ersen Gürsel “Heaven Garden”; in the ground level a prestigious education space and a foyer; in the upper floors a dining and a cocktail room has been redesigned.
