About 10,000 farmers from all 27 districts of Chhattisgarh, India actively participate in the 3 day event of Krishi Mela (Agricultural Fair) at Raipur. The main objective of organizing Krishi Mela is to expose and train farmers on various aspects and new technologies.
The vision was to have a SMART BUILDING, WITH MINIMUM CARBON FOOTPRINT AND GREEN IN ITS CHARACTER to emulate and conserve the spirit of a village bazaar encapsulated within the form of the building and to not have a formal exhibition space but to create an environment with a same value system as the original traditional Mela.
The layout for the Krishi Mela Ground has been planned with flexible spaces and few physical barriers and is intended as a combination of Indoor and Open Air Exhibits. The ground has multiple entrances/exits on different sides of the lot for differentiated access for Pedestrians, Vehicles, Fire Tender and Services.
The temperature in April–May at Raipur sometimes rises above 48 °C (118 °F). In summers, the temperature can also go up to 50 °C, which is why it is important to have insulation for the structure. Kalzip® systems can meet the most demanding construction and design requirements to create roofs and facades that successfully combine outstanding functionality with stunning aesthetics. The HOT AIR gets eliminated from the cut outs in the Kalzip® Roof over the landscaped areas making way for the COOL AIR to come in through the perforated jalis thereby maintaining continuous loop of passive cooling. The Kalzip® has also been fitted with Photo Voltaic Cells. These panels absorb the heat and thus the electricity generated will be used for the maintenance of the exhibition spaces.
The Mela Ground will help converge the Indian agro-based community and provide a platform to farmers where they can interact with industries for technology and better yield.
