Process, Progress{ive}, transformation,………………all those words and their synonyms have constructed the core of my understanding not only on the Architectural level but also on the level of culture, and life. Life is not a static environment that follows the same rhythm all the time; instead it is anti monotonic and subjected to a progressive process of transformations with an outcome of ever-changing contexts. Human beings have the tendency to fall to think of their context of life as a given static context that will remain the same. This false Perception has contributed to the monotony of our daily life and the regularity of our habits. Inhabiting a city for couple of years – if not months- subjects us to a high degree of predictability and inattention as we tend to see the same things in same arrangement all the time.
As information and computation has started to play a major role in regulating human life as well as finding endless alternatives and possibilities to actualize ideas that can promote human intelligence and take into higher levels. This sets a point of departure for architecture to break its flatness and start to delve into other depths of space, time, and culture. Our spaces can move from the two dimensional plan and the three dimensional perspectival stability to discover the attributes of a four-dimensional space. Responsive and interactive Spaces and elements that can transform and mobilize through their context, changing to produce alternative readings, perceptions, as well as triggering new levels of intelligence as the concept of a constant predictable context might start to fall apart. This pushes the architectural understanding beyond the three dimensional notion of the cube to tackle a higher level of geometry of the “Hyper-Cube” or in other words it is a shift from the static notion of form to the definition and application of “Hyper Form” and its implication on human culture, intelligence, and contexts.
What interests me about this exhibition is what it can provide for those ideas and visions to proliferate and actualize. By applying advanced computational technologies to an urban context can transform it by producing Hyper-Contexts that are subjected to change and initiates new possibilities by promoting new modes of life , cultural transformation, as well as new levels of intelligence.
Of course all of this would not be achieved without developing certain technologies that would electromechanically mobilize and transform the architectural elements to create such a futuristic ever-changing environment and contribute to the initiation of other technologies for example the movement of the buildings can contribute to the initiation of its own energy similar to the case of the Dynamic Architecture tower in Dubai Designed by Dr. Fisher. Such Architecture will be also considered in relation to other fields like music, cinematography, virtual projections, etc….. In order to come out and emerge with a new Hyper-Reality augmented environments,. I believe that those are strong factors that can propose and construct a vision for a future sentient city that requires a high level of human intelligence and perception to generate in order to cope with its new situations and changes.
