The facility which is located on an area of 60 000m2 {4100m2 of the area is the artificial lake} in Çerkezköy-Istanbul is planned in four main parts: Production and Storage{20 000m2}; Social Facility, Management and Exhibition Centre{3200m2}; Senior Management and Museum{1150m2}; Energy Centre{820m2}
With this project I also like to demonstrate our environmental concern, which is not very common in industrial projects.
Here we decided to use the excavated earth to pile on the northern edge of the 60 000m2 of site area. Needless to say it proved to be far more an economical offer to the client.
By erecting an artificial hill, which is otherwise open to very harsh North winds from Black Sea, we have also used it as a buffer against traffic noise and badly developed housing area nearby. The last but not the least, we wanted to create a fauna for bird migrating from Syberia to Mediterannean and backwards every year, using more or less the airroute above our site. Since the region is relatively poor in trees, they usually fall prey to local hunters. So it was a haven. The lake as part of the concept, first designed to provide a reservoir in an event of fire, but also to provide humidity, necessary for the 2500 trees which we planted on the hill. Mostly pine, selected to suit the climate condition.
But as you see, some of migrating birds decided to settle down and make the forest and the lake their permanent residence. So the reservoir for fire had to be repeated somewhere else. Then we introduced golden pond fish to enrich the natural life.
