MOSCOW PENTHOUSE – 2014
Project: Mario Mazzer Architects
Architects: Arch. Mario Mazzer, Arch. Antonella Centis, Designer Gianluca Moras
The penthouse is the result of a total renovation of the 22nd floor of a building in downtown Moscow.
The 800 square meters property area is characterized by a large terrace with an hanging garden and a spectacular city view.
The layout of the apartment is built around a perspective axis: a symmetrical atrium leads to a bright and panoramic glass-walls lounge with the focus on the historic skyscraper of Moscow State University.
On the side of the atrium are the kitchen, the study, bedrooms, bathrooms and other service areas.
The client desired a minimal house but at the same time wanted it warm and made with valuable materials.
Mario Mazzer Architects firm has a contemporary imprinting and has designed an interior decor with pure lines using refined materials. The tones are mostly dark but warm, with calibrated "color" touches that create an elegant and cozy atmosphere. The floors and walls coverings are made of solid walnut Canaletto wood. Some walls are paneled with full-grain leather finishing or with marble.
The decor is totally custom-made, designed for the specific client’s needs, and is made with quality finishings such as Macassar ebony, walnut Canaletto, full-grain leather, burnished metals, mat lacquered glasses and marbles.
The only products that are not custom made are chairs, sofas and tables and they have been chosen from historical design companies (B&B Italy, Flexform, Cassina, Vitra and Riva1920).
Great importance has been given to the lighting system. Inside the false ceiling, bright veils (094 Viabizzuno System) with indirect light sources, that use linear LED, have been realized. The spot lighting is made with built-in lights (Delta Light) and the lamps have great decorative value (Ingo Maurer, Louis Poulsen, Showy, Jack Dyson).
The final result is an overall sense of comfort and well-being. The client always sais to be sad whenever has to leave home and this means the aim has been achieved.
