Safety of our family member is one of the prime concerns for the rest of the
family. In our case, not just safety of the family member but the safety of
livestock of the entire village community as the villager's livelihood depends
upon them.
In Rumsu Village of Himachal Pradesh, one member from any family is
chosen to take the sheep and cattle of the entire village community for
grazing to the uplands for a span of 4 months. During which he has to be
concerned with his safety, safety of the livestock and take the brunt of living
alone without shelter (at the most build a small tent)
This is where we though why not design a form of architecture that is
mobile, unlike its traditional nature as that of steadfast and rigid. We have
however harnessed the same attributes of the local existing architecture
including the techniques used there. We are positive that our intervention
will give a boost to the traditional economic activity of dairy farming in the
area and reverse the direction of migration from the place in search of
better and safer livelihood.
