The project area is located in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, the most developed country in East Africa. The city is one of the fastest developing cities in Africa. It is one of the signs that inform this transformation in the project to be designed here.The existing building community consists of 3 blocks of 3 floors, built in a modern style about 30 years ago. The longest block has a gradually retracted architecture following the boundary boundary.The other 2 blocks are located as a rational rectangle in the layout plan parallel to the boundary of the plot.The 3 apartment blocks together define a courtyard. In the middle of the courtyard, there is a spa, gym and outdoor pool.At the entrance of the existing structures, a 2-storey volume was defined.In the new floors to be added, this 2-storey high volume is the reference.The landlord wants to increase the capacity of the existing buildings without demolishing them.The project was designed by adding an additional layer to the existing blocks. 3 layers newly added are considered as steel structure .Current the entrance volume on the ground floor with a height of 2 floors was continued with 2 storey volumes as console and balcony on the floors.Since the existing building is risky to carry 3 floors to be added statically, the structure of the addition made upstairs with new columns will be provided in steel.Thus, new floors will not be statically charged to the existing structure.While the blocks are being built, they will be done step by step and after one block is finished, it will be passed to another.
