India Habitat Centre
52, Race Course Road,
Bangalore, Karnataka-001

The IHC is a Cultural and a
Conventional Centre that would
provide a physical environment
which would serve as a catalyst for
a synergetic relationship between
individuals and institutions working
in diverse habitat related areas
and therefore, maximise their total
effectiveness. To facilitate this
interaction, the culture provides a
range of facilities.

LOCATION, 52, RACE COURSE
ROAD
The Bangalore Turf Club and Race
Course are getting shifted on the
outskirts of Bangalore making it a
perfect site for I.H.C., Bangalore.

THE LANDMARK [INDIA HABITAT CENTRE]
BANGALORE

Bangalore doesn’t have a large open space for public events, hence creating one in the Heart of the city.

The I.H.C. would be JUXTAPOSITIONED for the site, as it is
surrounded by major nodes/ locations such as Cubbon Park, Golf
Course, ChitrakalaParishad, Freedom Park, bringing together all
classes of people ranging from school/ college kids to old people.
The Building has been developed/ zoned vertically according to the
LINEAR SITE!

FORMAL SPACES are Prop- Cantilevered/ Suspended over the
informal area on Ground Floor creating a link between both.
The Food Court is kept above the Prop- Cantilever Sandwiching
the formal and informal activities together keeping the building and
spaces alive/ bustling with activities.

I.H.C. Bangalore, A Cultural and a Conventional Centre . The CULTURAL / INFORMAL
Space is on the floors above.
The access to both cultural and conventional areas are separate. Cultural having a
direct access from road and convention has a more formal and separate road coming
into the site for its access
The AUDITORIUM/ O.A.T acts as a link between both formal and informal space, the
food court on 5th floor gives an opportunity for intermingling of the formal and informal
spaces and people.
The Private area houses a GYM, Spa, Pool and Guest Rooms, Recreational Area for
MEMBERS of the I.H.C.

A coffee shop (24 x 7 )
Along the edge of the Road towards the formal
area gives it a transition feel from informal
to formal space. The surface parking and
the coffee shop together will bring in the Night
crawlers / College students bringing up the
night life.
The Basement Parking can be used by the
residents at night generating revenue and
security.
