The site of the project is located in the campus of university of Guilan, where all the buildings have been designed and constructed in a non-human scale. On the other hand, contextual design has become an interesting and popular subject with both groups professors and clients: Nevertheless, the way by which these two groups are used to taking to face the context, doesn’t seem so impartial.
Actually, the context will be re-parameterized each time it is going to be a part of the designing process and designers are those computers that re-parametrize it. Contexts are welcomed only if they are suitable and handful for either the designer or the design itself. This project argues the way designers and architects are used to facing with context.
So in this project it has been tried to take a look at the context of the site and obviously the first thing that comes to the mind is the majority of the heavy brutal harsh irritated buildings scattered all over the campus. Adolf Loos once said, “Mankind loves everything that serves his comfort. He hates everything that wants to tear him from his habitual and safe position and that bothers him. And thus he loves the building and hates the art”
So the context was determined: designing an exhibition which exhibits itself as the most brutal building among the other buildings in the campus. Something that evokes a local feeling in minds.
To meet the objective, the main part of the exhibition was inserted into a gigantic cylinder lifted from the ground level which offers two levels within, used for show place, and an open space beneath which can be used for temporary exhibition. Other spaces are hidden under the ground. By doing this, the main visual focus would be on the cylinder and also it paves the way for considering a courtyard that provides a majestic view to the cylinder.
