The world of architecture and design is fascinated with post-industrial spaces. Due to their unique character, surface and height, they give many possibilities, they are an inspiration for the creation of many intriguing projects. A great example could be the Global EXPO opened in November 2018 - the Trade Fair and Congress Center, which is located in the former car factory in Warsaw. The architectural concept of the object was created by the Tremend studio.
Architects from Tremend decided to preserve the industrial character of space and use some of the elements of the former production hall.
- Cooperation with the investor on this project was very successful - primarily because of his sensitivity and willingness to preserve the spirit of the past. Due to the limited budget, we tried to use what we found in the hall - the construction of the building, old gantries, lamps. In accordance with the eco trend, we have renewed these elements and restored their former splendor. Thanks to this, not only space has preserved its unique, industrial climate, but also was created with respect for the environment - explains architect Magdalena Federowicz-Boule, president of the board of Tremend.
The interior of Global Expo fits perfectly into the post-industrial aesthetics - the severity of concrete and steel has been broken here with saturated colors - steel structures are painted yellow and red, which adds character to space. The whole is complemented by modern additions - benches with fanciful shape, refurbished lighting, or visible ventilation pipes that blend in perfectly with the atmosphere of the former production hall.
Currently, the former factory has gained a new life - it is the center of many events - fairs, fashion shows and exhibitions of historic vehicles. Thanks to the metamorphosis, the place regained its splendor and became one of the most fashionable points on the map of the capital - and this is just the initial stage of the investment. An exhibition center is also to be built nearby.
