The Uri Eliav Theater, Ashkelon

The Labor Council Building in Ashkelon is a two storey building of 1000 sqm. with an office wing {towards the North} and a theatre {towards the South}.
The building facade faces the city`s main street.
The elevations are designed in the Modern Architectural syntax: round columns {after Le Corbusier}, basic geometric forms {square, rectangle}, orthogonal angles, repeatness, and rhythm.
This syntax gives basis to a new architectural language - Late Modernism, which its outstanding representative is, Richard Meier. The elements mentioned were dislocated into different layers, bonded in one three-dimensional grid, which gives deepness and complexity to the building. A dialogue is developed among the layers - between Mass and Transparency, and between Openness and Closeness.
TheTheatre is designed in the High-Tech style, rough and colorful - totally contrasting with the more restrained outside facades` design of the building.
