The Nature + Technology Monument, designed for the year 2000 intended to create a community ritual and a live project. The Guanacaste tree - Costa Ricas national tree, was to be seeded on top of a water box and surrounded by a large 3D-steel cubic frame. As the tree grew larger, the intention was that as soon as the branches touched the steel elements, this elements would be removed from the structure - thus creating a ritual within the community and allowing for a real interaction between nature and technology. The true final shape was to be given by the natural growth pattern of the tree.
