The design for the memorial for freedom and the unity of Germany as well as for the peaceful revolution in 1989 embodies the forces generated by and within the people and the will to peacefully bring the changes to their home countries they were so long and desperately longing for.
The old pieces, fell apart;- split up by the inner forces while the whole figure keeps its structure and evolves.
The inner forces are formally captured with the material translucent concrete. In this context concrete as a material directly connected to the dividing wall in Berlin, transformed into a light and lucid but also solid substance, creating a new ambitious structure.
