As part of the riverwalk development, the Water
Works site offers an ideal location for the absent
Museum of Contemporary Art in Tampa, MoCAT.
With the new Tampa History Center as one of the
Riverwalks termination points and the Tampa
Art Museum in its middle section, the end of the
Water Works District is needing the cultural
component and drawing force that a museum
can offer.
The design grounds itself on the landscape of the
adjacent park, addressing the existing natural
spring and connecting to the Riverwalk by
sculpting the land, informing the overall building
design.
