Continuing its long tradition of management education in the country, the Indian Institute of Management, proposed to build a new campus in Kozhikode, Kerala. Christopher Charles Benninger and Associates was invited to participate in a design competition along with four other leading firms in India. The programme included an academic block, library, administration and faculty areas, a management development center, recreational and dining facilities and various staff and student residences. The site, densely planted and on the outskirts of the city, had two hills as its predominant topographic character. The challenge lay in designing a campus on a hill slope, as well as linking the activities on each hill.
