Taya is the men’s formal clothing store at one of most prominent street of Ginza district of Tokyo. Its history continues since 1905, and the retail space requires the renovation to meet the contemporary clothing display and trend. Ginza is currently transforming from traditional Japanese cityscape to modern area.
This design applies digital fabrication method to create series of wooden louvers that are generated from the three dimensional surface. The storefront façade gives Taya different depth to adopt its tradition and new development of Ginza. The interior finishes of the retail space utilize the existing cabinets as salvaged materials for new design.
