A project is an attempt to create a space which generates richness & pleasure. Main objective behind the project is to create form with shape, proportion, rhythm, texture, colour & last but not the least light. An attempt has been made to create an outward looking building in addition to various spaces with their own individualities. We can take a feel of swimming pool, from each corner of the house but side by side we also made this form with proper functionality and circulation as well as the privacy has also been maintained by adding fences. Building facade has been kept very contemporary & new structural elements like MS plate, I-Sections as beams, Glass as glazing as well as flooring has been used extensively. House also has deck flooring at terrace and balcony. The planning, structure, material and zoning/orientation of the house respond to Gurgaon climatic conditions. Building also have a small basement, having services like balance tank, store, maid’s room, servant quarter, etc. It also has facility of rain water harvesting.
The first & foremost thing which has to be kept in mind while designing was it should reflect soothing, refreshing & relaxing environment. As it is an outward looking building, the treatment in interiors will be kept minimal so that one does not get bored & enjoys the space created naturally.
The concept of extension of rooms into exteriors has also been used very beautifully. As dining room can be completely opened-up to outer space, this creates a feeling of enormity of pleasure. Same concept has been worked out for drawing room, which can be opened-up to the pool area.
On 1st floor as well, this concept has been used in bathroom, in which we have an automated ceiling that can be opened up whenever required.
The second most important point which was considered into design concept was the interconnectivity of spaces. The space created through cutouts & areas such as water bodies can be over looked from the upper floor. While climbing stairs also one can have a look on water body placed adjacent to it with a statue of Lord Buddha being the focal point.
Now when it comes to elevation, the building has been kept very robust, with straight and simple facades with an introduction of a volcanic coloured curved wall at the right end of the building to add interest and defend against monotony.
