METU Architectural History Graduate Researches Symposium Spaces / Times / Peoples: Domesticity, Dwelling and Architectural History Theme: The Graduate Program in Architectural History in the Department of Architecture at Middle East Technical University organizes a series of graduate symposiums focusing on particular themes every two years. The symposium series, which began with the Spaces / Times / Peoples of the Ottoman, Republic, and the Ancient Age continued with the thematic meetings on Gender - Sexuality, Identity, Patronage and City. The eighth symposium to take place on December 12-13, 2013 will focus on the themes of “Spaces / Times / Peoples: Domesticity, Dwelling and Architectural History”.

The symposium aims to bring together current researches on spaces, times and peoples, particularly framed by the themes of domesticity, family, gender, privacy, dwelling (both as a concept and the physical space), and home culture; with a focus on the dualities of public and private, leisure and work, house and home, family and household; and to discuss the knowledge produced on these topics in architectural history.

Eligibility: The symposium is open to graduate students and to young researchers who have received their doctoral degrees since 2010.

Language of the Symposium: Turkish and English

Deadline: The deadline for sending paper proposals to the organization committee is October 21, 2013. Format: Applicants should send an abstract of 300 words together with five keywords. There should not be any information about the identity of the applicant on the abstract sheet; and the applicant's name, short biography, address, e-mail, phone and fax numbers should be included on a separate sheet that also includes the title of the paper.

Conference Fee: The conference fee is 100 TL.
