Rogers’ latest award is Companion of Honour

Richard Rogers joined an elite club of figures in the Queen’s birthday honours list last weekend.Thearchitect, whose best known work includes the Millennium Dome and thePompidou Centre, as well as Heathrow Terminal 5, was the only recipientof the Companion of Honour.The Order of the Companions of Honourcelebrates leading figures from the worlds of arts, science, politics,literature and industry. Members include David Attenborough, LucianFreud and David Hockney. Rogers, who was made a peer in 1996, was given the commendation for “public service and for services to architecture”. Hesaid: “I am grateful for the opportunity it gives me to raise awarenessof the importance of quality in architecture and design.”Benoy chairman Graham Cartledge received a CBE, and Landscape Institute librarian Sheila Harvey was awarded an MBE.
