Sustainable Building: Results... are we moving as quickly as we should? It's ups to us!
WSB are facing a significant moment of transformation in which we have to answer, with the resources that we now have, the demand for habitability and better quality of life for an increasing amount of population. It is in that context that the seventh global meeting on sustainable building “World Sustainable Building 2014” arises, this year organized by GBCe (Green Building Council España) in Barcelona.
The Conference will bring the leading institutions in the field together for the first time :Conseil International de Batîment (CIB), International Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment (iiSBE), United Nations Environment Programme - Sustainable Buildings and Climate Initiative (UNEP-SBCI), International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) and World Green Building Council (WGBC); with a view to integrate the scientific, productive and management perspectives (“Global Vision”) and give an effective response to the global, social and environmental challenges the building sector is facing (“Road Map”).
Within World SB14 Barcelona, the Association ASA (Association of Sustainability and Architecture), is organizing the International Universities Competition “Powering Transformation". This competition encourages students, in complicity with a faculty, to present new visions to the Conference, from their architecture projects. We’re not expecting fixed answers, but proposals and ideas to be subject of deliberation, presentation and exhibition, with the prospect of their integration and publication in the closing Conference documents.
It is time to generate platforms where the new generations are able to express themselves, to contribute to how we build our cities. Let us make university the seed of transformation again.

It is very important for you to take full advantage of these platforms so as to consider the way young people perceive the future of the sustainable building. Only then will they ensure that universities will be germ of the impetus and transformation we are seeking for.
