Winners of RIBA East Regional Awards Revealed

The Aboretum by Cowper Griffith Architects
Stanton Williams, Allies and Morrison, Hopkins Architects and Cowper Griffiths are among the architects who have picked up RIBA East Regional Awards
An ‘extraordinary’ home overlooking wetlands near Aldeburgh, a red-brick building housing Benjamin Britten’s archive (AJ 14.6.13) and a ‘dignified’ temporary housing scheme for the homeless are among the ten winners of this year’s RIBA East Regional Awards.
The victorious projects, which also include a new chapel in Great Yarmouth by Hopkins and a ‘refined’ family home by James Gorst (AJ Specification 6.13), were chosen from a shortlist of 18 contenders.
The region’s Architect of the Year Award went to Cowper Griffith Architects, who also won the RIBA East Building of the Year Award for a flint and timber-clad house built above a coastal flood plain in Burnham-Overy-Staithe (AJ 12.12.13).
Young-starlets HAT Projects picked up the award for Emerging Practice with the backers of the practice’s High House Artists’ Studios - High House Production Park - bagging the region’s Client of the Year.
Regional winners will be put forward for the RIBA National Awards, with the lucky recipients announced in June
