Open Call to Netherlands-based young design and architecture studios

Manifesta is seeking expressions of interest from young design and architecture studios based in the Netherlands, for two distinct temporary architecture projects that will provide functionality and infrastructure for key elements of the public and education programs of MANIFESTA 10. This open call is aimed at giving emerging Dutch offices the opportunity to design solutions for three temporary cinema structures, and one mobile education-use structure. The latter will be implemented at sites and events in and around the city of St. Petersburg.

This is an opportunity for Dutch architects/designers to create integrated elements outside and within the State Hermitage Museum. Manifesta looks forward to providing a stage for the work of talented young designers to be seen alongside their peers in contemporary art. The Dutch involvement in this project honours a relationship with the history of St. Petersburg, recalling Peter the Great’s admiration of Amsterdam and the significant cultural links between the two cities.

Please contact Manifesta at [email protected] for more details and to express interest in submitting a proposal for these projects. Expressions of interest should include a letter of motivation and brief information about your practice, with examples of work. From the expressions of interest received, five studios will be selected and invited to prepare proposals, for which a fee of 2,000 € will be provided to these selected studios.
