Book Launch:Behind The Green Door

The Belgian curator group Rotor devoted a lot of time and effort to finding and selecting objects for the comprehensive exhibition Behind the Green Door. Their work has now been turned into a book, which gets its 'world premiere' at DAC.

"Behind the Green Door, A Critical Look at Sustainable Architecture Through 600 Objects" is a dense, richly illustrated critical portrait of the current green wave in architectural design. The book addresses the concrete consequences and paradoxes of the strive for sustainability which marks our time. Drawing on a one-year long investigation carried out for the Oslo Architecture Triennale, it presents and contextualizes the 600 objects gathered for the main exhibition (building models, samples, software demo's, specialized construction tools, campaign posters, footage of lobbyist gatherings...). As a secondary layer of content, the book contains multiple short reflexions by more than hundred experts (prominent architects, critics, scholars...), who were invited to add comments to the original manuscript.

Behind the Green Door is a unique documentation of and comment on 30 years of sustainability as a dominating paradigm within architecture and city planning. The publication is presented in an accessible, visual compelling and thought-provoking manner, and will interest engaged citizens, experts and practitioners, activists and politicians alike.

The publication will be launched at the Danish Architecture Centre followed by a lecture by Rotor.

"Behind the Green Door, A Critical Look at Sustainable Architecture Through 600 Objects" is published by Rotor and Oslo Architecture Triennale.
