Since its inception in 2016, the competition has empowered over 15,000 students from 900+ colleges across 75 countries to engage with real-world design challenges that shape communities and cities.

TDB 2025 Brief – Echoes in Stone | Sadahalli Quarry, Bengaluru

The Drawing Board invites architecture students to explore these ideas through the lens of Sadahalli Quarry, Bengaluru. This edition challenges students to create a Museum of Geology within this dramatic, heritage-rich landscape.

About The Drawing Board

The Drawing Board is a non-profit international design competition for students of architecture. Jointly organised by Rohan Builders and Mindspace Architects, the competition is a platform to showcase creative thinking, architectural sensitivity, and socially conscious design.

The journey is simple but impactful:

Stage 1: Online submission of entries

Stage 2: Finalists present to a live jury at an in-person event in Pune, India

The support from eminent architects such as Sherman Stave, Henrie Comrie, Peter Stutchbury, Tezuka Takaharu, Durganand Balsavar, Rahul Gore, Bijoy Jain, Ernesto Bedmar, Palinda Kannangara, Marina Tabassum, Soumitra Ghosh, Prashant Pole, Naresh Medappa, Bijoy Ramachandran, Rahul Kadri, Sanjay Patil, Prasanna Desai, Hans Brouwer, Edgar Demello, and Uday Andhare and many more.

TDB 2025 Jury

Rajeev Kathpalia

Rajeev Kathpalia, partner at Vastu Shilpa Consultants, blends sustainability with social equity in projects ranging from IITs and IIMs to Nalanda University. His net-zero campuses exemplify integration of architecture, ecology, and community. Honored with the Prime Minister’s Award for Urban Design for his work in Hyderabad’s Charminar precinct, he continues to shape urban and academic spaces. As a long-time educator and advocate, his influence extends from design studios to public discourse.

B. L. Manjunath

With nearly 40 years in structural design, B. L. Manjunath combines engineering precision with architectural integrity. Founder of Manjunath & Co., he has led projects across industrial, hospitality, and housing sectors. An award-winning structural consultant and Associate Professor at WCFA, he seamlessly bridges practice and teaching. His work has earned recognition from Holcim, JK Cement, and the World Architecture Festival.

Tanuj Goenka

As Director at Kerry Hill Architects, Tanuj Goenka crafts context-sensitive architecture across Asia and the Middle East. From Aman hotels in Bhutan to major developments in China and Saudi Arabia, his projects span luxury, institutional, and master-planned scales. Deeply rooted in material and cultural awareness, his work reflects KHA’s ethos of creating contemporary buildings connected to place.
