Winners of the Inspireli Zahrádky Castle competition are announced

Every year, Inspireli also organizes theme-based challenges – from development projects like the Beirut Port Reconstruction (2022) and Schindler’s Ark (2024) to the commercial as Czech Embassy in Ethiopia, or this year’s projects: the Zahrádky Castle Reconstruction.

This year’s winners were announced at a gala ceremony held on October 6th at Bethlehem Chapel in Prague, where among 450 guests attended renowned architects such as Francois Valentiny, Budi Pradono, Giacomo Garciano or Daminth Premathilake, and many other distinguished figures from around the globe.

In the Zahrádky Castle Competition, an extremely challenging topic of reconstruction of a medieval castle to serve the needs of the 21st century, 58 students from 14 countries participated.

The winning team came from Poland – Damian Gębarski, Weronika Ławniczak, Aleksandra Bugajska, Michał Cegliński, and Zuzanna Czesna – presented their excellent Zahrádky Castle Conservation Project and 2500 EUR cash prize.

The 2nd place goes to went to team of Yanjiu Fang, Yuanhui Huang from Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, China. See their project here.

The 3rd place and 1500 EUR went to a team of 17 students from Kyiv National University of Technology and Design, represented by Alona Hlushak, Anastasiia Ustenko, Daryna Kotelnikova, Babaryka Natalia, Daryna Kovbasiuk, Turcheniuk Anna, Viacheslav Rukavishnikov, Polina Katsion, Violetta Semenchenko, Buimister Oleksandra, Dmytrenko Oksana, Korol Marharyta, Mariia Moskalenko, Kharchenko Maria, Abramova Iryna, Angelika Nizhnik, Yakiv Buzdyhan. Zahrádky Castle competition is part of the 10th anniversary of the prestigious international student competition Inspireli Awards which demonstrated the strength of a new generation of architects and designers. This year, 1,506 students from 77 countries submitted 1,511 projects, reaffirming Inspireli Awards as the world’s largest student architecture competition.

It is not only a competition but also a global community connecting young architects with professionals worldwide. Over the past ten years, it has become a platform for sharing creativity, ideas, and cultural perspectives, helping shape a more inclusive and high-quality built environment.

The new year has already started and the new topic takes the students into Argentinian city of Tucuman – The Arsenal, where they can work on both urban design and architectural scale of a town development. Competition ends June 15, 2026.
