As an institution, Thessaloniki Design Week (ThessDW) aims to promote creativity and innovation in all design forms, as they shape every aspect of our social and personal life.

The 2nd edition of Thessaloniki Design Week is planned to be held in October 2021 with dates from Wednesday, October 13, 2021 – Monday, Oct 18, 2021, which have not been confirmed yet. The event will take place at various locations in Thessaloniki, Greece.

The 2nd Thessaloniki Design Week is organized in 2021 under the main theme of INNOVATION IN DESIGN.

Thessaloniki Design Week seeks to contribute to the dialogue and search for new needs and technologies, which are constantly changing the production, economy, and environment, in a determinant and rapid way for the contemporary man.

The event features exhibitions, conferences, speeches, seminars and guided tours in various parts of the city, projects, proposals and concerns are presented that bring together creators and companies, highlighting to the broader audience the social and economic significance of design.

At the initiative of PHILARTIA and in collaboration with the MUNICIPALITY OF THESSALONIKI and other entities, activities and events are organized in connection with the educational and research community of Greece and the international field of design. 

All ThessDW activities are aiming at encouraging communication, the exchange of ideas, synergies between individuals and organizations, and meaningful extroversion.

Taking into account the developments and conditions set by the applicable measures against the pandemic, both domestically and internationally, Thessaloniki Design Week will be developed in two phases:

The first phase features the International Οpen Call that will result in a digital exhibition of selected proposals. This new digital platform will be used as a vibrant and active digital space dedicated to design that will also support other activities, such as speeches and presentations by designers, competitions and video screenings.

In the second phase, in October, the main event of Thessaloniki Design Week will take place, in physical or hybrid form depending on circumstances, with exhibitions, conferences, workshops and guided tours that will spread across the city. With the collaboration of institutions and young creators, innovative solutions and ideas in key design issues will be presented.
