British design Thomas Heatherwick's giant bronze steel and concrete installation is officially set to be opened on March 15, 2019, as the installation is also searching for its official name by the help of public, reports 6sqft. Heatherwick's structure will be a new landmark at Hudson Yards, New York.

"It was always a placeholder until the public experienced it. We’re excited to have the public help us with a name," stated in an email sent to 6sqft.

As the date is fast approaching, the Hudson Yards' website also opened a form to reserve your seats earlier to climb to this giant structure with the public. If you want to see the structure in the official opening and climb to it, you submit this form to reserve your place.

Known as The Vessel, Heatherwick first unveiled design in 2016 and the structure topped out last December. The 46-metre tall installation is comprised of  154 interconnecting flights of stairs, 2,500 steps, and 80 individual platforms are arranged around its vertical perimeter.

The design is inspired by the ancient stepwells of India, the studio sought to evoke the powerful effect of their repeating steps, flights and landings that reach down to earth.

The structure is made of polished copper-coloured undersides, contrasting with the raw painted steel surfaces of the complex architectural framework. Each component of the structure weighs close to 100,000 pounds. 80 individual platforms are being prefabricated by Cimolai S.p.A. in their Monfalcone, an Italian manufacturer and construction company for steel structures, then shipped to New York where they will be assembled on site.

The project, derived from Stephen Ross' idea - the Chairman of Related Companies, one of developers of the project, is expected to cost $200 million in total.

Heatherwick Studio recently completed the renovation of Coal Drops Yard in London. The studio also unveiled plans for New York's new residential towers with bursting windows.
