Durban Declaration:2050 Imperative UIA Advocates For The Environment With Its Partners

A round table of the UIA’s partners took place on 6 August 2014 during the UIA Congress in Durban, South Africa. It united the institutions with which the UIA maintains relations and exchanges based on protocols and reciprocal agreements.
The ensemble of partners, who represented United Nations agencies, regional organizations of architects,organizations for the preservation of heritage and the environment and humanitarian organizations committed to work together to phase out CO2 and fossil fuel emissions by 2050, by means of design strategies and socially responsible construction.The “Declaration 2050 Imperatives,” put forward by the Director of the Australian Institute of Architects, David Parken, was discussed and amended by the partners for presentation before the UIA General Assembly on 8 August 2014, where it was unanimously adapted.
