Danish architect Bjarke Ingels' firm BIG and Mosss (Making of Smart, Simple Spaces) have collaborated to launch a new series of subscription-based video workshops that provide access into the minds of the world’s leading creatives. Within the scope of these series, Bjarke Ingels designed a sculptural ceramic vase for Mosss' limited-edition products, which is presented in an online workshop - reaching 15 chapters in total.
Mosss’ debut workshops, featuring Danish architect Bjarke Ingels and Los Angeles-based interior designer Cliff Fong, offer unparalleled access into each designer’s creative process, from case studies to inspiration and influences.
Created for design enthusiasts without academic training - from home renovation aficionados to art collectors to décor-savvy individuals - Mosss gives subscribers insight into decorating their own homes with the help of the world’s leading interior designers and starchitects.
BIG' design, called SKUM Vase, is exclusively designed for Mosss and is a limited-edition ceramic art object. Ingels' SKUM vase's namesake comes from the inflatable art pavilion that BIG designed for Copenhagen's 2016 CHART Art Fair.
Like the inflatable installation, the SKUM vase has a bubble-like form and captures a sense of creativity, whimsy, and play. This vase is part of a limited-run series.
Created exclusively for Mosss, the SKUM Vase is a result of Bjarke's collaboration with the tech startup to bring design education to a bigger audience through interactive video workshops, articles, design tools, and products.
The vase has dimensions with 7" h x 5.25" w (17x13cm) and its material is made of porcelain with matte white colour. It is sold at $190 and you can buy it form Mosss' online shop. Subscriptions begin at $110 a year for individual workshops and $200 a year for all-access membership, see details in Mosss' website.
"Our interactive video workshops give you access to the world’s leading architects, interior designers, and influencers as they share the secrets to the creative process. Our debut series features renowned architect Bjarke Ingels and interior designer Cliff Fong," said Mosss in a press statement.
"Our partnership with Bjarke Ingels marks the internationally-renown architect's first with a design/tech startup and his workshop contains never-before-seen footage of his private home."
"At Mosss, we believe that everyone should receive a world-class design education, regardless of whether or not they want to pursue a career in design. Mosss gives you the tools to live beautifully," added the initiative.
Mosss was launched by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) and design innovator Jude Fulton, a former architect trained at Harvard Graduate School of Design. Jude Fulton initially planned a career in architecture and academia but after graduation realized that no one was building simple tools and education for people who hadn’t gone through years of design school.
With her deep passion for technology and background in design, Jude is single-mindedly focused on bringing design intelligence to the world through Mosss. Jude holds design degrees from Harvard (Architecture), RISD (M.Interior Architecture), and Yale.
Jude was an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Harvard Innovation Lab. A New York native, she currently lives in San Francisco with husband and instafamous dog, George.
Mosss (Making of Smart, Simple Spaces) is the place where taste meets technology. Founded by an architect for fellow design lovers, Mosss is an inspired, thoughtful community where you can discover insights from world-renowned creatives.
