The exhibition Motion Matters 4.0 shows different readings, interpretations and perceptions of the work of UNStudio. The issue of mobility is experienced in the movement through the exhibition and immediately analyzed by ever-changing perspectives. For many years, UNStudio investigated the potential of perspective for the varied architectural design requirements. The results of this experimental research form the basis of the exhibition Motion Matters. It presents a selection of key projects and UNStudio opens the view on 26 years of architectural creation of internationally active Dutch offices.
The exhibition is a showcase not yet a passive object under observation, but interacts with the visitor by simultaneously active participation calls to create a spatial and dynamic experience. The Motion Matters exhibition concept was previously applied to site-specific exhibitions at the Harvard Design School, the Aedes Gallery in Berlin and the MAXXI Museum in Rome.
In the exhibition Motion Matters 4.0 the concept of changing perspective is brought to a new level. While in the previous exhibitions distorted static images were used UNStudio has further developed the concept with projections and reflective surfaces in collaboration with AG Lighting and Light Life for Architecture Gallery Munich. Motion Matters 4.0 was designed to confront the visitor with the surreal experience of discrepancy between perception, vision and reality.
