Tourist services centre, Bicycle Museum and multi-activity Centre.

The future bicycle museum is located on the island of Chongming, the area long destined to become Shanghai?s most prominent ecological district. 

The Government commissioned a recreational project around what is a symbolic and popular object in Chinese culture throughout history: the bicycle. The aim is to subtly evoke what is most essential when cycling, while also avoiding easy and immediate metaphors. It is also necessary to link bicycle, nature and ecology, 3 elements that best describe Chongming Island?s essential features. The museum?s space and scenography were based around this very concept. The areas and functions are directly connected without any obstacles or corridors obstructing the space. The rooms offer multiple views onto the park or the museum?s associated functions.
