Best Architecture Photograph of 2016 has been revealed at the World Architecture Festival for the Arcaid Images Architectural Photography Awards 2016. Covered Reservoir, taken by British photographer Matt Emmett, shows one point perspective of bricked arches of the Covered Reservoir, Finsbury Park, London which was designed and built by East London Waterworks in 1868. 

Matt Emmett's photography portfolio specialises on ruined and abandoned buildings, capturing their character and stillness in the present. Matt Emmett presents his photographs in a website named Forgotten Heritage. 

Matt Emmett had the highest scoring image overall with this image of the East London Works Company covered reservoir in Finsbury Park. Arcaid images held its annual display of shortlisted entries from its Architectural Photographer of the Year Award, now in its fourth year and this year's winner sees a first for the Arcaid Awards in the form of the subject being an historic location.

One voter, Dr Eva-Maria Barkhofen, Head of the Architecture Archive at the Akademie der Künste was heard saying it reminded her of a Piranesi. Paul Finch of WAF announced the winner at the Gala Dinner of the World Architecture Festival in Berlin. It was accepted by Lynne Bryant, founder of Arcaid Images; and Ulrike Stotmeister, member of the Stotmeister family. The winner will be presented with their prize by Lynne Bryant at the Awards Exhibition at the Sto Werkstatt in February.

The prize for this prestigious award $3,000, exposure in the exhibition in London and Berlin, and all the media coverage about the awards. ''The breadth of architectural photography presented to us was amazing. With their own distinctive view the photographers opened our eyes for a second time and helped us to discover things we hadn't previously appreciated. I found this extremely enriching'', commented Judge Ulrich Müller and Director at Architektur Galerie Berlin.

The image was selected by global jury members including Emily Booth, Executive Editor, The Architectural Review, Amy Croft, Artist and curator of Sto Werkstatt, London, Katy Harris, Communications Director, Foster+Partners, London, Kai-Uwe Bergmann, Partner at BIG, Fernando Guerra, Architectural Photographer, Portugal and Ulrich Müller, Photographer and founder of the Architektur Galerie, Berlin. 

The shortlisted entries alongside the winning image will feature in an exhibition ''Building Images'' at Sto Werkstatt, London during February 2017. 

World Architecture Community is an official media partner for World Architecture Festival and INSIDE Festival, which ended up on Friday at the Arena Berlin, in Germany. World Architecture Festival will return to Berlin in 2017, taking place from 15-17 November next year.
