Michael McDonough proposes an ’abnormal’ cultural landmark to stimulate economic balance at town

Michael McDonough, a London based designer, founder of mmcd. creates conceptual visuals and 3D motion graphics, interpreting some global architectural issues with 'non-standard', organic forms to create new attractive points at site for the visitors.

McDonough's images are not only derived from their amorph representations or formal entities, which they can be set in anywhere as independent from the context, but his design approach gives a new kind of response on the city's conurbation where the most of the cities in the world face with. McDonough designs these structures as 'a connective tool', stimulating the existing context- between two cities, two towns, or two sides of the river.

Woodside is proposed as the creation of a major new arts, events and cultural landmark building for the banks of the Mersey at Birkenhead Woodside. The design is part of a wider conceptual project to create a long sought after pedestrian link between the two banks of the region's city centre in Liverpool, UK.

The functional aim of the building is to re-establish economic balance between the east and west sides of the river, creating compelling reasons to positively draw more people across the river by expanding the combined city's cultural offering, bringing new life to Birkenhead town centre, and re-establishing it as a name recognised around the World once more.
