Intergenerational Spaces In Rural Areas competition Winners Announced

The Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs launched an international ideas competition open to architects from around the world. The competition aimed to offer solutions to a common problem in rural communities throughout the world, based on a Korean example. Using a Korean village as model, the brief addressed rebuilding residential facilities, rehabilitating old structures and inserting new ones.
A total of 178 teams participated in the competition, including 75 Korean teams and 103 others from regions around the world. Dominique Gauzin-Müller, from France, represented the UIA on the jury chaired by Korean architect Joh Sung-Yong.
2nd prize: JY Architecture, Republic of Korea; skimA + VS - A. KR, Republic of Korea; Daehak-ro Hapsa, Republic of Korea
3rd prizes: 8architects, Republic of Korea; Uponb, Republic of Korea; a single, Republic of Korea
Eight special mentions were also awarded.
