As part of the international, governmental negotiation on climate, Cop 21, the International Union of Architects (UIA), the Architects’ Council of Europe, the National Council of the Order of French Architects (CNOA) and the International Council of French Architects (CIAF) adopted a manifesto synthesizing architects' engagements to combat climate change.

These four groups presented the manifesto on the opening day of Cop 21, during a joint conference Paris on the theme, Architecture, the Climate of the Future. This manifesto for responsible architecture stresses that architecture and urban and territory planning have great potential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It calls for decisions and policies that will counter the chaotic growth of cities, establish an equitable and responsible sharing of resources, curb climate damage and protect the planet's environment and natural resources.
