Eira Lounge Pavilion Winners Are Announced

1st prize winner: Colletivo Arcipelago, Bari, Italy 

BONS SONS, in collaboration with ifideasforward, has announced the winners to design an ephemeral installation - Eira Lounge Pavilion“.  For 2016, the BONS SONS celebrates its 10th anniversary. They are 10 years history of Portuguese music, which include the 192 bands that have gone through your poster. The BONS SONS, over the last 6 editions, has been to position itself as a national reference at various levels: cultural, local development, community life and the environmental, economic, social and territorial sustainability. This has been an ongoing process of construction where the BONS SONS stands as a true agent of change. The sound projects presented on the Stage Eira make use of an energy and vitality of youth characteristics, associating also symbolically fertility and germination of the old threshing floors, reflected in the musical creativity that feature.

10 years of Portuguese music, that the organisation celebrates with this edition of BONS SONS, living both freshness and innovation brought by bands like the community life, that promotes, extols and perpetuates. The jury members have selected 3 winners from Italy, Germany and Portugal with 7 honorary mentions from different countries.

1st prize winner-jury comments: ''The proposal responds clearly to the questions raised in the competition briefing and was unanimously considered the first classified. Creates an engagement with the public and the community, creating an effective relationship in its construction and maintenance.'' Instils a relationship with the imagery of Eira and local agricultural traditions - olive picking. Meets budget limits and is easy to perform. Particular note for the presentation of the proposal, and the level of detail of the construction system and visitor interaction. It is a changing, dynamic and challenging project due to formal unpredictability. Defines a central role in the enclosure is iconographic, and enhances a relationship with the light design of the stage.''

2nd prize winners: Marc Timo Berg, Rebecca Galley, Cottbus, Germany 

Jury comments: ''A structure that creates a living space on site, working as a landmark in the landscape. With conceptual and sculptural quality, well developed and which meets the practical needs of visitors. Does not present budget, and of the analysis, the project indicates implementation difficulties within the budgetary limits.''

3rd prize winners: Alice Cardoso, Pedro Barros, Braga, Portugal 

Jury comments: ''The jury highlights how strong point, contemporary reinterpretation of decorations festivals. The proposal reflects an understanding of the place and defines a central role. The materiality of the structure creates a play of light and shadow and enhances the relationship with the light design Eira stage. The answer is assertive with technical and structural solutions, making itself one of the strengths of this project.''
