reSITE 2016 started with Saskia Sassen’s lecture about ’cities and migration’

reSITE 2016: Cities in Migration started with the most prominent names including Saskia Sassen, is the urban sociologist and Professor of Sociology at Columbia University. Sassen highlighted important insights in the lecture, focusing on complexities of cities and 'migrant' figure on a global scale. Saskia Sassen evaluated foreigners position and commented that ''the foreigners seen as outsiders'' but it is a lack of knowledge and cultural distance that we need to cope with.''

Sassen also added that: ''are we actually reacting to these different nationalities, Catolics, Muslims or so on''. ''We are living a very tragic and particular era, the risk is today misinterpreted''. Most of migration problems of today represent minorities. But, there are three types of migrants today, with this complex situations, there are no any legislations, regimes and immigration laws that governments have to reorganise them.''
