What we learn from manifestos?

Chicago-based architects Design With Company talks on why buildings should reframe and celebrate the everyday- and this young practice tries to reposition the role of architecture beyond technological developments -it's much more about the cultural production and new envisions in this field.

Design With Company (Dw/Co)'s new book Mis-Guided Tactics for Propriety Calibration, a “learning from” manifesto focusing on the midwestern United States, analyzes buildings like the World’s Only Corn Palace or the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame & Museum, found in small towns with no particular identity, surrounded by farmland. Yet they write new narratives for their surroundings by reframing and celebrating the everyday. Buildings like these should influence architects everywhere. In addition, Design With Company (Dw/Co) is among the participants of 2015 Chicago Architecture Biennial- and the design studio interviewed with MetropolisMag about the Biennial.

Design With Company (Dw/Co) is the Chicago-based architectural collaborative of Stewart Hicks and Allison Newmeyer. Dw/Co seeks to transform the world through textual and visual narratives, speculative urban scenarios, installations, and small-scale interactive constructions.
