World Architecture Festival continues with trigerring sessions today with prestigious speakers on WAF's theme Housing For Everyone. The other session focused on a special sub-theme of refugee housing crisis in general: Temporary housing-refugee response-the discussion evaluated some major questions focusing on long and short term needs of refugees in the world. The speakers discussed the topic by focusing on this question: What long-and short term needs should architects take into account when designing for refugees  and the communities that they join?

The session chaired by Paul Finch and the speakers were Prof. Bernhard Franken, Principal, Franken Architekten, and Bard Rama, Architect, World Bank and Eastern Europe Section Director, AIA Continential Europe Chapter. Prof. Bernhard Franken has made a short presentation about temporary housing and prefab buildings that they designed. 

''Prefab Building Systems are completely different business'' said Franken. ''A shelter should also be transformed into a new housing that everyone will be able to live socially and actively''. ''Housing is much more than a shelter,'' he added.

Prof. Bernhard Franken has also presented many Low Cost Housing typologies that they are working on. Bard Rama also talked about the statistics of refugees living in Berlin. Rama said that ''housing solutions should not only be implemented for temporary houses, but temporary houses should also propose long-term solutions'' 

According to Rama, ''Tempohomes'' of Berlin are the new residential container systems are being erected in 30 locations of Berlin. In 2015, approximately 50,000 refugees were accommodated in Berlin so it is a series problem that need to be solved-as a community, healthy and socially living.

World Architecture Community is an official media partner for the event and WAF will continue many debates around this year's theme Housing For Everyone with live jury critics. The winners of some shortlisted projects will be announced at the end of the day.
