I am architect and research student in MRes Inter-disciplinary Urban Design, at Bartlett School of Planning, University College London (UCL). I have an Undergraduate degree in Science of Architecture and a MSc with Hons on Sustainable Architecture of Multi-scale Project with a major in Urban Design from the Faculty of Architecture of Politecnico di Milano, Italy.
In wider terms, my academic background is based on the study of urban regeneration processes, highly oriented to the enhancement of existing assets exploring new paradigms through innovative urban design strategies.
My current research is focused on the role of urban design in the temporary living era coming from huge high- skilled workers diaspora around the World, and the impact that it has on urban space (Moving ideas: debating new forms of work space in urban cities). When the market forces and the Globalization processes are precursors for the socio-spatial change, the moving society within cities has radically modify the notion of “urban inclusion”. In this panorama, it becomes important to establish which are the spatial transformation coming from the flow of skilled talents in space-functional dynamics. These processes become tools for the construction of new transformation strategies, involving implications of temporary local practices and active participation of local community in knowledge-intensive sectors, with a strong impact on the surrounding space.
Before starting my research career at UCL, I worked as Part-II architect in London and Milan, mainly in Hospitality and Retail at different design stages.
In 2016 I won the Scholarship “Round Table Piacenza #4” to develop part of my Master’s thesis at the UNESCO Underwater Cultural Heritage with the project entitled “Suspended landscapes, intervals between space and time”, which investigated the processes of preservation and regeneration of submerged sites, with particular attention to the re-signification of forgotten places in mountain small contexts.
My academic experience is complemented by an active and continued participation in parallel activities, such as the foundation in 2015 of “Presidio Temporaneo di Architettura”, a collectivo of students currently organizing international exhibitions and workshops with the support of Politecnico di Milano, involving architects, professors and students on the topic of “Materia” used as a tool to explore, interpret and design the urban space.
