Ruben Morgado is a Mozambican Architect and Physical Planner and while completing Master’s degrees in Architecture and Sustainable Design at the Catholic University of America in Washington DC, runs his own architectural design company in Mozambique - RM | Arquisign. In 2010 he co-founded with his brothers the Carlos Morgado Foundation, named after their late father. Currently he divides his work and time between Washington DC, Amman, Jordan and Maputo, Mozambique. In 2006 he completed one os most important work, the Emergency Project in Ibo Island – Quirimbas Archipelago, Mozambique as resident architect for preservation and restoration of five 16th-century monuments, in historical Portuguese colonial commercial center in the north of Mozambique. This included a fortress, two forts, a church and a mosque. The scope included participation in strategic planning for stabilization of the buildings, survey and creation of drawings of all structures, supervision of cleaning and stabilization, creation and installation of historical and touristic information markers and training of touristic guides.
