Farhat Muhawi {b. Jerusalem, 1973} is an architect and urban planner and is currently the Director of the Planning Unit at Riwaq. He received a B.S. in architecture from Birzeit University in Palestine and a Master in Urban Planning from State University of New York at Buffalo. At Riwaq, Muhawi works on the preparation of protection and rehabilitation plans for historic centers in Palestine, He worked on the New Law for Cultural Heritage Protection in Palestine.

Muhawi’s thesis titled, “A Critical Look at the Politics of Land Use and Zoning in Oslo Accords: Oppression and Ignorance” won him the Jammal and Suzan Award for Best Thesis for an International Topic and the Best Student Project Award from the Upstate New York Chapter of the American Planning Association.
