He was born in Erzurum, 1963. Kaya completed his secondary education in 1967. He had graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in architecture from Konya Selçuk University Faculty of Architecture in 1984. He had completed his postgraduate studies at METU, Faculty of Architecture at the Department of Restoration in 1993. He worked on several projects with Çinici Architecture Atelier between 1984 and 1985. Kaya was the project manager at Öncüoğlu Architecture Ltd. Co. between 1985 and 1991. Between 1991 and 1997 he was the founder and general manager of Ano Architecture. Kaya continues his architectural practice at Öncüoğlu Architecture Ltd. Co as partner since 1998.
